Just a few hours ago, we saw VP get absolutely smashed by Dignitas on Cache, losing 4-16. Keep in mind that this was Dignitas’ NEW roster with k0nfig and RUBINO. And even though VP are still on their ‘break’, losing a match with a big gap in the scoreline like that isn’t the best look for them. Putting that aside however, the map for this BO1 is Train and historically, VP has put up some good matches on Train. Many think that it is VP’s stronger/est map and I can agree with that.
G2 have recently acquired ex-Dignitas player, aizy in place of dennis who has moved on to Fnatic. Dignitas was a sinking ship, and the only player who I though was pulling their real weight was aizy. I think it is a good pickup for G2 and when they are given some time, they can really make an impact on the scene with this lineup. G2 has had just one showing with their new addition because it was very recent, but they 2-0’d Penta with relative ease earlier on today.
VP and G2 have had two encounters very recently, both resulting in a 2-0 win for G2. The first encounter was at Cluj-Napoca and the second encounter was just a few days ago in an online match. Coincidentally, Train was played in BOTH of the series’ and they ended as 16-14 and 19-17 for G2. Very close scores, so in this match, we should expect another close series.
Advice and final thoughts
This will be a tough match to call, seeing as it is a BO1, online and the uncertainty for the teams forms and new players and what not, but I’ll most likely put down an ICB on VP despite their lack of good showings lately. Hopefully they learn from their bashing today and make sure it doesn’t happen again. A skip on this match is fine as well, this is a risky one.
My odds for this match: VP 50:50 G2
