Dignitas vs. Renegades at MLG Predictions

Note: New predictions will have multiple recommendations and adapt to the odds coming through from lounge. For the best results, wait as late as possible to place your bet

Dignitas

Dignitas’ last event was at the ESL Barcelona event and there they ended up tying in the 3-4th position alongside G2. In total, they played 6 matches and won 3 of them. They won against gBots and Vexed twice. They lost to Fnatic on Cobblestone but not without a fight as they brought Fnatic into OT and lost 17-19. Ultimately, their downfall was fellow Danish team Astralis as they had lost both matches against them back to back (12-16 on Overpass and 11-16 on Mirage) and this ended their run in the event.

They have looked like they’re on good form as of late, playing well as you can expect a T2 team to play. Nearly beating T1 teams (close scorelines with Fnatic and Astralis) and also beating T2 teams with comfort. They played well in the Barcelona event and hopefully we can expect similar or even better results in this one.

Renegades

Renegades once played well, but that was a while ago. I think what made them ‘so good’ is the fact that they were from a near non existent scene back in 2014  and they brought new strats to the table which many NA and EU teams hadn’t seen before and didn’t know how to counter strat against them. Now that the Oceania scene is out there, the element of surprise is no more and Renegades are just another T2, struggling against NA teams.

USTILO is a somewhat new addition to the team. He was added just after RNG had choked in the grand finals at IEM Taipei against the Mongolz. Havoc was the man that had to be removed and since this roster change, things have been looking a little bit better for the Aussie crew.

In the ESL Pro League Season 3, RNG are 4-1 with a win against Enemy, two against CLG and one loss to Enemy. Just a week ago RNG played in the Dreamhack Malmo NA Closed Qualifier. They initially passed the beginning stage by winning 2-0 against TSM but Liquid put a quick stop to their advance as they 2-0’d RNG.

Final thoughts and advice

Dignitas should have this one in the bag to be honest. Because it’s a BO1, I wouldn’t bother betting if the odds rise above 70% or even 65%. This will be USTILO’s first big event with RNG as well.

Med-Small bet recommended.

My odds for this match: Dignitas 65:35 Renegades

Thoughts

I’m sure Renegades practised a lot to get ready for the qualifiers but being in a group with Dignitas, is quite literally 0% chance to get first in the group. Dignitas should become first in this group quite easily, I don’t expect them to lose any games. Renegades on the other hand, I don’t feel like they’re going to make it. I think C9 will come out on top but I am definitely hoping for Renegades as I like them much more as a team. Renegades have a huge mappool but none of the 7 maps are maps they can upset Dignitas on, I just don’t see it happening. Should be an easy win for Dignitas.

Pick: Dignitas

Bet: Medium on Dignitas

EDIT: Inferno is the map, closer than the actual odds on Lounge, Renegades COULD upset, changing the bet!

My odds for this match: Dignitas 75:25 Renegades
