TStorm vs. VP at IEM Predictions

VP of course in poor form coming into this event, will be looking at a game like this and probably feel really confident going into it, and rightfully so. The best map for Tstorm just happens to be an incredibly strong one for VP as well, which causes a big problem for the Brazilians. On top of that, the experience in the side of VP, is not something Tstorm have experience facing, and in games like this, the experience and bits of magic from players such as Snax, should prevail, and this should be a win for VP on their quest to go back to the plow. I would not go MED on VP without seeing how they are performing, so for right now I will say to go LOW here.

My odds for this match: TStorm 35:65 VP

Well, I already mentioned that Virtus.pro are in a massive slump but the odds for this match are ridiculous, Tempo Storm played really bad during the MLG Columbus Qualifier where they got demolished by FlipSid3, now they are up against one of the best teams in the world and I’m sure their players will be very nervous during this tournament, it might make them play way worse than they usually do and I doubt they could beat Virtus.pro when there’s so much on the line.

I don’t feel comfortable betting on this match because of VP’s terrible performance in the recent weeks, but they really need to beat E-Frag and Tempo Storm in order to advance, surely they will try their best to win this one.

My odds for this match: TStorm 30:70 VP

  • Dust2: 55-45 Tempo Storm
  • Inferno: 65-35 VP
  • Mirage: 50-50
  • Cache: 65-35 VP
  • Train: 70-30 VP
  • Overpass: 70-30 VP
  • Cobblestone: 50-50

We saw both teams perform, and I’ve said this multiple times; Tempo Storm are a good team with really good aim, but they can’t play on strat-based maps. Now, their match against FaZe was close because it was on Dust2. Tempo’s only chance against EU teams is to play on Dust2, It’s a pug map which doesn’t require any strats so that definitely favours Tempo as they have an insane aim. Tempo’s problem here is that VP will ban Dust2, 100%. So the road to an upset against VP is as good as faded.

VP in the past were a team who never got beaten by a NA team, this changed due to their slump, they lost to Liquid but as of now, VP don’t even look that bad. Sure, they got destroyed by Astralis but that was on Overpass, a map Astralis are just beasts on. The match against nV was on Cache, and it looks like Cache is VP’s best map as of now. Overall, knowing VP have this good record against NA teams and knowing they will ban Dust2 I don’t think Tempo stand a chance. I’m expecting a win in favour of VP.

Low (5%) on VirtusPro

My odds for this match: TStorm 35:65 VP
